Beijing Tibet Hotel is the first Tibet star grade hotel invested and built by the nation and the government of Tibet Autonomous Region in Beijing in 1997. It is one of the 62 aided-Tibet projects set up in the 3rd Working Conference on the Development of Tibet in 1995. Since 1997 after operations of Building A of the hotel, the 2nd phase of the project had been under way. The Building B was completed in 2007 and opened in April of 2008. Beijing Tibet Hotel located on the North 4th Ring Road (East) is adjacent to the Asian Games Village. It is only 1km away from the hotel to the National Stadium (Bird's Nest), 22km to the Capital Airport, 13km to Beijing Railway Station, 22km to Beijing West Railway Station,10km to the Tiananmen Square, and 200 meters to the Huixinxijiebeikou Station of Subway Line 5. Beijing Tibet Hotel became the member of the International Gold Key Organization in 2003, and was awarded "the Golden Prize of the Gold Key Service" by the Organization in China area. The hotel has been for four times granted with the honorable title of "Advanced Group of the Capital Tourism Circles" by Beijing Tourism Bureau. The hotel also had honor to win the title of "Green Traveling Hotel", known as "Gold-leaf Grade", conferred by the National Review Board of Star Grade Hotels. The hotel is one of the hotels which have been officially appointed to receive guests for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. . In 2001 and 2003, the mansion won the honour of “Capital Tourism Zijin Cup” for outstanding units. It joined the International Gold Key Organization in 2003.
